Simulated Respiration

From our "just for fun" department, here's an experimental simulation of respiration, using our novel airway visualization (called "Hyperion View") together with an inspiratory/expiratory scan pair.  The free-form deformation we compute between inspiratory and expiratory lung scans gives us the ability to smoothly interpolate both the tissue motion and density changes throughout the breath cycle.  When we combine this dynamic construction with our patent-pending "Hyperion View" curved planar visualization, the result is a uniquely context-rich perspective of patient respiration from inside the lungs!  We give special thanks to our sound actor, Darth Vader, for the audio track.  What do you think?  If you have thoughts on this technique you'd like to share, drop us a line.
